Hey-I've got a moment, so here's an update for you. Today, Venus moves into Taurus, which is one of the signs it rules. (Libra is the other) Venus is the planet of love and beauty, and Taurus is gentle and romantic (the Bull has a softer side you know...) We all may find ourselves feeling a little more sentimental for the next month or so. The next big step is on the Third(next Saturday,) when Mercury (the mouth!) moves into emotional Cancer, the sign of home and family. Also Mars, the planet of direction moves into Leo creating DRAMATIC action. All of these signs point to Domestic Drama-the kind that transforms the homestead. It might be a good time to cut back on the caffeine, and remember to count to ten!!!
Well Kids, I took a break-I wasn't going to, I had planned to meet with my partner for Global Feminism, and get a start on the paper that is due next week-the one we have been trying to get together for since about three weeks ago. UGH. Between her kids, my relentless schedule of 16 hours, and Saturday Market-plus the weekend Folk Festival last week-WHEW-It's lucky I can keep my eyes open in my "spare time". This might sound like a bit of the whiner, but I realize that I did it to myself, and if I wasn't busy with this, I'd have found another reason to be occupied sooo.......
I didn't think I'd have anything to do today socially, but I got a phone call Saturday that changed all of that, and Babboo and I headed out to the tiny town of Deadwood to our friend Cindy's oasis in the country today. It turned out to be a BEAUTIFUL day, and Cindy's place is off the highway, drive eight miles to where the blacktop ends, and then another mile and a 1/2 or so on the gravel to a driveway that looks more like a logging road until you get to the end of it to her magnificent cabin in the valley. AHHHHHH, paradise. I love it there! We had a fantastic potluck, (Italian Themed), music by the hostess and friends, and happy dogs playing in the pond. T-bone met one of his kind, a Blue Healer Aussie Mix named Angus. They had a ball! (and some sticks, and a swim!)
Deadwood is a community that looks deceivingly small. If you blink on the highway, you will miss their Fire Station and General Store, and the turn onto Deadwood Creek Road. However, if you are lucky enough to know someone from there, you realize that a very special lot of people live in the hills and valleys that make up the community. One of the people who lives up there is an Astologer who is pretty well known in these parts, Mark McNutt. I met him when I first moved here 8 or so years ago at a divination night. I had recieved a computer printout of my chart, and he was doing mini-readings. I remember him taking one look at it, and telling me that I needed to be running my own business. Apparently he was doing readings at the Folk Festival last week, and he had stopped by my booth, but I was talking to someone else, and he was on a mission to find his daughter. He told me today that he not only admired my work, but he said, OH, yeah-"your birthday is December 31, 1964..." to which I looked at him kind of amazed, because he remembered reading my chart for about 15 minutes 8 YEARS AGO!!! I bow to his feet...He is coming to my neighborhood on the 12th for a workshop in an intentional community that is at the end of my street, and is holding a free workshop over the weekend of the Solstice-guess what I'll be doing that weekend!!! AHHH...onward and upward!!! Same to You!!!
