Now Playing: Touch of Grey-the Grateful Dead
Topic: Magic in the Airwaves
I had an absolutely magical day with the radio today. I have this thing for holidays, even the most "trivial" is great fun for me. My first and foremost favorite is April Fool's Day, which we will cover at great length over the course of these ramblings, but I'll leave alone for now.
Last night, at Casa de Enchilada, we were discussing Groundhog Day. One of "my people" said that it was great because it meant nothing. He said that he never worked on that day. I told the story my Groundhog Day 1995. I was planning my Grateful Dead Spring Tour for that year and I sent handmade Groundhog Day cards to my friends that I was anticipating meeting up with. The cards had a Groundhog bouncing out of a hole on the front (go figure!) and said "Is it Spring Yet?" Inside it said "Cuz I'm ready for TOUR!" This morning when I woke up, I was laying there thinking about it again, and started drifting into thoughts about Tour, the Dead, my "Family", etc...when reality hit and I realized that I had to get ready for work. I went into the bathroom, turned on the radio, just in time for them to answer the question that I had asked last nite (about what the shadow means-6 more weeks of winter) and right after play "Touch of Grey" by none other than the aforementioned Grateful Dead! Once upon a time this would have amazed me. I still get a giggle out of it every time (which is ALL the time) I now recognize it as a part of my connection to source.
As my day went on there were many other reminders that I was in the flow. One other one happened this afternoon at work. I had been thinking about writing about my morning and wondering how to spell Punxsutawney when I had to get something from the office. The radio was on in there and I heard the DJ ask people to call in and spell it to win a prize! There were about 5 wrong answers, (enough for me to have grabbed a pen and notepaper) and a guy spelled it out for me! He might have won the prize, but I was just as thrilled! I LOVE THIS GAME!
