The full moon is in Capricorn tonight. The sun is in Cancer. For me-a Capricorn sun sign with a Cancer rising, and Cancer being ruled by the moon, this is very powerful. Capricorn is the 10th house of the zodiac, the house of Career and Public Standing, while Cancer is the 4th house-the house of Home Life. This is a dichotomy, and probably a large part of the reason that I am working on running a business out of my house!!! This configuration affects everyone in the areas of home and career. The full moon highlights the ways we need to balance the two. In my case tomorrow I am delivering my first double mandala to a couple in a new geographic and economic region for me, but first I had to put in one of the longest, and most troublesome shifts to date at Pedro's Poquito Poblano-ria. Yes, kids, combine one part full moon, one dining room full of kids eat free, and one bar-load of .99 cent fish tacos. Add one sunshiney day to open the patio with an extra ten tables as far from the kitchen as possible, take away one bar server, move one dining room server (inexperienced of course!)to compensate. Now take away one hostess (from two scheduled) who "didn't realize that she was scheduled" and leave one hostess who has been there for about three weeks. Then have one of the precious four remaining dining room servers (for the 5 dining rooms in the building) ALSO not show for her shift. Throw into the mix one expediter who is usually a bartender, for the vacationing veteran food grabber and two cooks to cook food for orders coming from the entire place. Did I mention that in a effort to save labor dollars the second bartender was scheduled an hour later than he has been coming in for 10 years (swift!) and top it off with a "shift coordinator"(moi!) who works one shift a week. Throw it in a blender for 6 hours and you will have yourself A NIGHT FROM HELL!!! I am proud of the fact that I, nor any one of my (skeleton) crew ran screaming from the building swearing never to return. I am proud that everyone kept a level head and just kept going. I AM seeing the message for me here. I make more money on monday day shifts behind the bar, than being the "head honcha" of the entire place, and one custom mandala is worth TWICE what I made tonight. Tell me where would YOU focus your energies?...

It's time for summer. Tonite's Full moon in Sagittarius is just what the doctor ordered for the funk (not the good kind) that has been hanging around at the end of Gemini. Sagittarius is playful, and the sign of travel and expansion. Learning, playing, enjoying...the Sagittarius way of life. We could all take a lesson from the high spirited horses. As we switch into the sign of Cancer, home and family come to the forefront. Get everybody to pitch in on the chore list and reward them with a play date in the sun. Better yet-forget about the chores today-when's the last time you all got out and whooped it up. For us, it looks like a trip to the Triangle Lake fish ladders is in order. I got the opportunity to take the day off. Someone called and asked me if they could work my shift so they could make a little extra money before they moved out of town!!! After a SHORT battle with the miser in my head I said YES!!! Pass the tanning butter!

Happy Father's Day to all it applies to. My papa lives kind of far away, and I don't talk to him as much as I should. I have to say that I think we could make more of an effort, but there are all kinds of excuses for not doing so. It goes both ways. I think we all make a lot of excuses for not keeping in touch. I know my family knows that I love them, even though they are far away,and I don't get to see them very much. I keep thinking that things are going to slow down, and I will have time to call, or go see them. I guess we are all waiting for the magic formula. My goal for this summer was to slow down and spend more time with my kids. I don't want to work every day at one thing or the other and not have some fun. Then today I got my schedule for July. I give up. I am working 5 days a week PLUS Saturday Market because one person is having surgery, and one is going on vacation-which means I am picking up the slack. Honestly-I wish I could afford to quit! No wonder I don't feel good. I just want to create mandalas!!! Is that too much to ask?

I have written this three times, and Internet Explorer has blipped it... I have been sick all day, and I need to go back to bed so if this doesn't work...Goodnight. Basically, I have been thinking a lot about the pressures of this life. I think I can put it best by saying that we all have some form of it on us. The way we choose to use it makes us who we are. If you take the pressure, and rise above it, it lifts you up to shine for others to follow. If you put yourself under too much, it can turn you into a black hole. Black holes try to take in as much matter as they can, trying to suck energy out of anything that comes into contact with them. Hence, misery loves company-until the company can't take the pressure anymore, and pulls away. Stars burn up the energy that comes near them. Look at what happened to Icharus when he flew too close to the sun. I am hoping to be my own planet. I would like to have a hospitable atmosphere, a balance of earth, water and sky, a few satellites, some nice neighboring planets, and some visitors for outer space to make life interesting!!! FAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRR OUT!!!

Well, kids, maybe it's the placement of my Saturn that makes it difficult for me to amass wealth. It wasn't really mine to amass, but a windfall for Babboo affects me too. I have Saturn, the planet of truth and restriction, (which rules my sun sign Capricorn) in the eighth house, which is the house of birth, death, and regeneration, and is the house of Pisces, which is the sign of secrets, sorrows, and self-undoing!!! It's pretty heavy, and indicates that I have lived the good life many times over, and now I have to apply my lessons, or the wheel will roll right over top of me! Last week we got some news that did not seem real. Like I said-when life looks like easy street-there is danger at your door (quote-Uncle John's Band-Grateful Dead) When everything played out, it just wasn't right. Some said take the money and run, but if we've learned anything, it's that there is "no free lunch". The gift has been re-gifted, and we are none the worse for wear. My Saturn placement "does not favor material wealth", however, I can overcome it by using the lessons I learn from it to teach others. I also have a favorable Jupiter placement that is great for business, and drops funds in my lap right when I need them-often in the most unexpected way. I am not likely to win the lottery in this lifetime, but I will always get by. Anyone want to buy a mandala?

8th Grade Graduation

Tonight Dylan graduated from Jefferson Middle School. Middle school had not been so good for him. He is really a pretty sensitive guy, who really flares up when he gets teased. Just like the bullies like it. He is also kind of a little guy, which only adds to the appeal. The good news is that he has spent most of his life learning to outmaneuver his older brother, so he can wrassle with the best of 'em. I told you earlier that I had taken on the project of creating a 10 foot shooting star tail banner for the stage (in my spare time). Thanks to Shane at Albertson's for going the extra mile and getting me a large piece of cardboard right off one of the display cartons in the storeroom. Also a shout out to the Dollar Tree for making projects like this feasable in my economic strata, I pulled it off. It was a sight to be seen, stage right, 12 feet long, covered in gold foil, emblazoned with the word "CONGRATULATIONS" in blue posterboard letters trimmed with silver glitter!!! The grads walked through a lighted star shaped "arch", got their diplomas, and exited under the comet tail's glory. Unfortunately, you will have to take my word for it since Trevor's digi-cam decided not to work for his brother. (Doesn't help that he dropped it at the skate park!)
