Nobody Knew in the beginning that it would be so difficult to find their way back to where their hearts belonged. Wasn't there supposed to be a trail of breadcrumbs, or a light at the end of the tunnel? Somehow as we navigate the emotional tide there are waves and there are pools, and there are Eddies. Sometimes when we have certain expectations about what a lesson might be, or get cocky that we know all the answers, up pops a question that we hadn't even considered. The new moon that is coming up tomorrow, is in Leo in the 5th house, which is the house of creativity and sex. The key word for this is PARTYTIME. This is the peak of the summer experience. The summer is hot, the music is good, the company is sun-kissed, and the time is right. This is the party before the harvest. These are the dog days. Don't push yourself. In Europe they traditionally take August off. That doesn't sound like such a bad idea! Just like a LEO-find a sunny spot and LIE IN IT!!! BLISS!!!

Twice this week I have dreamed that there was a volcanic eruption happening that was directly affecting me. In the first one, I was going to visit my father, but we couldn't get there in the plane because of an eruption. I know that Mt. St. Helens is active again, and that it is between my father in Walla Walla, WA. and me. My father is going to try to visit on Labor Day weekend, and perhaps Mt. St. Helens will be erupting around then? I don't really feel any stress between my father and me, but I was also worried in the dream that I wasn't going to get back to go to work on time... Last night there was a volcanic eruption and we were watching from a window. There were a lot of people gathered, and they were talking about the "second coming" and making little shrines. There was something about the painted mountain in Slab City, CA. I was watching a guy paint "JESUS" on a rock. I woke up singing "What a Friend We Have in Jesus." I am somehow reminded that when it is time to take the next step...I will know

I have been having a wheel of fortune, and rabbit-rabbit thing going this week. As far as I can tell I am in a period of taking chances, and of watching the wheels, and of the turn of a card. I feel as if I am watching and learning by paying close attention to situations that I feel that I am repeating. I feel that the opportunity to do something just a little bit differently that will all of a sudden make a real differnce in how I do things now. Does that make sense? I know that I covered the "rabbit, rabbit" thing in one of my early entries. On the first day of the month, you say it to the first person you see that day, for luck. Yesterday (Jerry's Birthday) I started the sketch for a new mandala for a person who's Chinese Zodiac sign is the Rabbit (western Cancer). The mandala I delivered on the day before, was for a Cancer Rabbit as well (1975 and 1987)! The last and first days of the month (alpha/omega). I think this is a good sign! In the mandala for one, I used the Chinese character for rabbit. In the second, I am drawing a white rabbit in the "north" of the mandala. It is his Chinese symbol, but here it takes on Native American medicine connotations. The North is the home of the Elders, and the Ancesters. It is where we look to the past to see the future. It is the Arctic Rabbit, the Snow Leopard, and the White Buffalo. It is the time to hibernate, and create from within. It is time to renew, and come out growing. It is Wisdom from experience. Thanks, I sure could use some!!!

Today is Jerry Garcia's Birthday. I am forever Grateful for him. Jerry Garcia was a special blend of Leo. The kind who commanded prescence on the stage, yet retained a certain humility that touched the part of us that is truly human. I was not very fond of the Dead for far too many years. My experience was Touch of Gray, or Truckin' from the radio. The whole scene just seemed irresponsible to me, I had to work!!! Then one day, during what was to become the beginning of the end of my life coma, I heard a slow, low, haunting guitar coming from a bootleg tape...cryin' like the wind...a scratchy, emotional siren song, called me out to play. Ste-lla Bluuuuuuuuuuuue...and a guitar made me weep without even knowing why. Finding out has been the best thing that ever happened to me! All the years combine, they melt into a DRRRRRRRRREEEEEEAAAAAAAMMMMM...(for me a Dreamweaver!!!...wink wink) THANK YOU, JERRY!!!

Yes, Kids...another satisfied customer received their mandala today. my boss Mary, who is officially my first "Collector" got her third piece. She got one for herself about three years ago, got one for her oldest son's 18th birthday then too, and now has one for her other son's 18th birthday. (Though I have to admit, I missed the target date by 10 days...oops, but with good reason-I swear!) I have a picture of it in my photo album, however it is not letting me insert that in here at this time, so you will just have to take a peek at it when I can get it to post. I'll try again tomorrow. See you then.

Grammy K's birthday was today. My Leo Lion Grammy. She was certainly the mother lion, always loooking out for her den. As well as making sure her pride was fed. She always made sure we had a birthday card, and a little money. She always made sure we had shoes and bras. She always petted our heads when we were falling asleep. She knew what to do for an upset tummy, or a croupy cough. She rubbed us with Vicks and wrapped us like mummies. She would give us a bath, and heat water on the stove to warm it when we had been in for a while, and the tub was getting cold. There was always the option of bubbles. Thank You, Grammy K.

Well, I was right, I have been having some convoluted dreams. I can't really get into detail right now, but I have been doing a lot of figuring it out up there. I am resigned to sticking to the game plan, and working like four days a week, doing Saturday Market for the rest of the season, fitting in at least one mandala a week, and keeping a steady income to put into my IDA fund. Like it or not, that is my reality. In Oregon you need to have an Oregon Liquor Control Comission (OLCC) permit to serve alcohol. We live in a state with no sales tax and a high minimum wage (compared to the national average-not to try to live on!) That makes property taxes and sin taxes the biggest revenue generators. Cigarettes and Booze are always under fire at the state capital. Permits to serve them are a tax on the poor folks just trying to get by. I also have to get a food server's permit every two years. They've got to get the money from somewhere. My permit has been expired for quite some time, and nobody noticed that I was not qualified to pour the snorts. I got a letter saying I couldn't work until I passed the class again and I don't have any desire to do so! There is a cd-rom you can get to take it on line, and I have to do it today or I will be involved in a misdemeanor crime by pouring the brunch champaign tomorrow. OMG!!! I suppose I'd better get on it...I wish it didn't feel so much like the universe telling me to QUIT IT!!!

I am exhausted in a whole different way. I went up the McKenzie River with Baboo, "River Tom", "Fed-Ex", "the friend" and River Rafting "Rodeo" Tyrone, getting his "sea legs". The temperature in town was in the high 90's+, but up in the mountains it was cool and shady. The McKenzie River is a world class river with fly fishermen, river rafters, kayakers, and loads of campers of all styles. People plan trips of a lifetime to see it. We can take an LTD city bus up to McKenzie Bridge, (about an hour up) for $1.25. Days like these remind me of why I am really here in the Pacific Northwest. A lot of people say they can't stand the rain. I say it's a small price to pay for the lushness of the landscape. Days like these remind me that there is no excuse for boredom and inactivity. That we need the sound of the river to reset our clocks. That we depend on it for our very survival. That we are one and the same. There are rivers in me. I will go to sleep peacefully tonight. I am warmed from the sun, and full of fresh air. I look forward to the next time that I am afforded such pleasure again, and I will be using it as inspiration for a while. I am asking myself what I would do if I knew that I could not fail. Let's see what that does to my dreamspace tonight! Have fun with that!

Forgive me, My Little Pretties, for keeping you in suspense for DAYS!!! I was busy waiting on people who were hot and cranky this week. It has been a wild one. Our business is unpredictable, and no matter how we are staffed, there are moments that it is way too much, or when there are far too few of us, and we get buried. For the most part, people in this country do not know how to be waited on. I have been in the restaurant business for far more years than I care to admit. I get angry when people see you running as fast as you possibly can, to wait on 6 or 7 tables full of people, who all come in about the same time, all order something different, all want seperate checks, and all think they should be first, and can't understand why their food is taking twenty minutes. Is this truly a crisis? Is it so painful for you to be out in public with your family and friends that you cannot look at it as a chance to just be with them? People get mean when they are hot and hungry, and this week has been rough at work. I actually got right in a woman's face on Monday and told her "I wasn't making her food take longer on purpose!" She shut right up, and I packed her food TO-GO!!! That was the pinnacle of pissed-off for me. It is breaking the Cardinal Rule of waitressing, "Never talk back to a guest!!!". I do not consider these people guests-they are more like INTRUDERS! I have three days off this week, and I am not on any manager shifts for the next two weeks after either!!! YAHOO!!! My plan is working. Got to finish David's Mandala. Ida got hers and LOVED IT. I have plenty more to finish, and I have some time to do so. This is the moment I have been waiting for!!! P.S. Be nice to each other.
