Day At The Races

Night on the Town
Mood:  spaceyNow Playing: Steppin' Out-Joe Jackson Topic: Steppin' Out You know how when you cram so much activity into two or three days, it all becomes one big day, because you pretty much didn't really ever sleep? Well, that's pretty much what I am using as my excuse for writing every other day lately. We are getting our summer on!!! I actually got on the ball, cranked out some more zodiac stock, borrowed Susan's PT Cruiser, jammed my booth into it, did my shift at Market, sold a few small items, did A hairwrap (not exactly the all time sales day...), came home to a houseful of hungry teenagers, (haven't been so thankful for $.79 bean burritos from Taco del Chihauha since tour!), dispersed teen mob, took a shower, nabbed Baboo, "cabbed" to downtown Our Town, (our way of making not having a car seem metropolitan), drank beers and BFK's, saw live ska-tle-jazz, walked home really late, stayed up WAAAAAAAAYYYYY past my bedtime, and got up this morning to return to the Menudo Mixer from which I enjoyed a brief, but productive break this week..... bbbrrrreeeeaaaaaaaattttthhhhhhe.... It served it's purpose, I was able to put groceries in the fridge again, and now I can start figuring out how to afford the Lane County Fair with two teenage boys this week, AND pay for a "new" engine in the Market Mobile!!! (It's Always SOMETHING!!!) sighhhhhhhhhhhh.......

Blackberries Are Ripe!!!
Mood: chillin'Now Playing: Lazy River Road-The Grateful Dead Topic: CanoeTrip Yesterday was Anniversary #5 for me and my Leo Lion Boy. We went and floated the lower McKenzie River in "River Tom's" canoe. We picked blackberries in a couple of scenic spots along the way, and filled our bellies and the cooler with as many as we could fit in. I have almost completed another mandala for a guy who lives up in that neck of the woods, so I rationalized the trip as "research and development". Do you think I could write it off of my taxes? The relaxation seems to have allowed me to get back my creative focus. I have been able to replenish my stockpile of zodiac plaques and will be doing Saturday Market tomorrow after a three week involuntary "hiatus" (which was actually pretty well timed) due to the loss of the car. I am going to take a friend up on her offer to lend me her PT Cruiser, and get back in the game!!! Hooray!!!

Ten Years After
Mood:  hug meNow Playing: All Things Grateful- Anything by the DEAD Topic: The Music Never Stopped I'm standing on the Moon, where talk is cheap and vision true... Just jammin' some Jerry just for those of us who are prone to that sort of thing. It has been ten years since his untimely passing. I can hardly believe it. Such a long, long time to be gone, and a short time to be there... Of course I remember the moment that I heard. My phone rang off the hook all day as friends from all over called to say-what now? The answer then is the same as now...Listen to the music play...and then PLAY ALONG THE WAY!!! A couple of days before Jerry died, I had started a mural over my bed. It started as an outline of a girl dancing. I had stopped there, but when I heard, I decided to paint it in tribute to him, and that is what I did that night. I have come a long way since that moment, and I have learned that even when things appear to be carved in stone, it all erodes in the sands of time....

Baboo's Birthday
Mood:  lazyNow Playing: Life During War TIme-the Talking Heads Topic: Nothing It's Baboo's Birthday. I used it as an excuse not to go to the "Maximus Chow Down". I went to the dog park instead. I am cutting myself short by taking a tipped day off, especially when I got a couple of extra days off from the management schedule as well. I do, however, have some mandalas which can take up the slack. It's a precarious balance. I am trying to tip the scales toward making more money from my art than I do from selling someone else's product line. Last week I made almost as much in mandala money as I did in tips! Not bad for a week in which I skipped Saturday Market. IMAGINE THE POTENTIAL. I am going to have a lot of free time this week. Oh-Great Amoeba-grant me the wisdom to use it WISELY!!! That is my birthday wish-no one said it had to be MY birthday!!! (Happy Birthday, Baboo)

Pride of Lions
Mood:  celebratoryNow Playing: In The Jungle (a-weem-a-way) Topic: Den Mother I am not sure how a little ol' (I SAID OL'-not OLD!!!) Capricorn Goat like me became so completely immersed in the company of Leo Lions, but it appears that they have got me surrounded!!! Baboo's Birthday is tomorrow-August 7. It is also one of the guys on his hockey teams as well. Today is the birthday of one of his co-workers, yesterday was the birthday of Mikael the Macho Muchacho of The Sizzling Siesta! It was also the birthdates of Son #1's-#1 with which to have fun-"Cracker" and Son #2's giver of the new hair-do-"Davin"!!! Remember, that August 1, was Jerry Garcia-July 30, was my Grammy K's, then add Aug. 15 for my sons' Nonnie, Aug. 20 for another close friend...and that's only the people who are closest to me. I feel like Leos teach me to relax. When the going get's tough, the Lions look for prey, and when there is plenty to go around, they share it, and the whole village is invited. If you've helped a Lion in any way, they are forever grateful. Sit back and raise your glass..."IF I WERE THE KING OF THE F-O-OOOORRRRR-e-sst..."

All Good Things
Mood:  quizzicalNow Playing: Here Comes the SUN-the Beatles Topic: Maintaining Paradise Nobody Knew in the beginning that it would be so difficult to find their way back to where their hearts belonged. Wasn't there supposed to be a trail of breadcrumbs, or a light at the end of the tunnel? Somehow as we navigate the emotional tide there are waves and there are pools, and there are Eddies. Sometimes when we have certain expectations about what a lesson might be, or get cocky that we know all the answers, up pops a question that we hadn't even considered. The new moon that is coming up tomorrow, is in Leo in the 5th house, which is the house of creativity and sex. The key word for this is PARTYTIME. This is the peak of the summer experience. The summer is hot, the music is good, the company is sun-kissed, and the time is right. This is the party before the harvest. These are the dog days. Don't push yourself. In Europe they traditionally take August off. That doesn't sound like such a bad idea! Just like a LEO-find a sunny spot and LIE IN IT!!! BLISS!!!

Volcanic Activity
Mood:  sharpNow Playing: Hot Lava-B-52s Topic: LAVA FLOWS Twice this week I have dreamed that there was a volcanic eruption happening that was directly affecting me. In the first one, I was going to visit my father, but we couldn't get there in the plane because of an eruption. I know that Mt. St. Helens is active again, and that it is between my father in Walla Walla, WA. and me. My father is going to try to visit on Labor Day weekend, and perhaps Mt. St. Helens will be erupting around then? I don't really feel any stress between my father and me, but I was also worried in the dream that I wasn't going to get back to go to work on time... Last night there was a volcanic eruption and we were watching from a window. There were a lot of people gathered, and they were talking about the "second coming" and making little shrines. There was something about the painted mountain in Slab City, CA. I was watching a guy paint "JESUS" on a rock. I woke up singing "What a Friend We Have in Jesus." I am somehow reminded that when it is time to take the next step...I will know
