Infinite To-Do Lists
Mood:  d'oh
Now Playing: That's Entertainment-the JAM
Topic: it never ends
Here I was-up past my bedtime, potato in belly-dreams on hand, writing an entry about how Mercury was going direct today,(see "putter putter" for the entry on Mercury retrograde-it's related) and how that means that communication and travel was once again going to move forward, and things were going to begin progressing again. I was listening to xrt and the signal dropped. I went to pick it back up and not only couldn't get it back on (technical difficulties-please stand by!!!) but I lost my blog entry too!
It's probably better that way, I was rambling on (I know that's hard for you all to believe-LOL) I guess it's the Universe's way of saying-get to the POINT! Too bad I don't have one!!
Have a Nice Day :)

Inspiration Overload
Mood:  smelly
Now Playing: Ain't Life Grand-Widespread Panic
Topic: Plugging Away
I am at the point right now where I have quite a few projects that have been going along rather well, but I feel like I haven't finished anything!!!
I look around and know that in order to progress I am going to have to backtrack and regroup!
I cleaned my mess up off of the living room couch (and surrounding trail of creative clutter!) I rearranged my tool box, and made it more workable. I touched up a few loose ends. I directed the household to become more efficient, and work as a team. WOW!!!
Peter Gabriel is busy singing about "Making it Big" in my headphones. I am busy "Making a big MESS!!!" Yes, My Darlings, THIS is the stuff Dreams are made of!!! (oh-haha-Dream Police-Cheap Trick is the next song on the playlist. Hope they don't arrest me for LITTERING!)
I just ate my potato-let's see what lies waiting on the other side of my eyelids!!! I'll get back to you on that.

Now Playing: Knocking on Heaven's Door-Bob Dylan
Topic: Now Be Here
I don't have a lot to say tonite. While the world mourns the Pope and the Prince of Monaco, my family is preparing for the passing of my Grandmother. (on my Mom's side)
I can't help but reflect on yet another irony in my far from Normal life. My other Grandmother passed away at the same time as Mother Theresa and Princess Diana. It seems fitting that both of these wonderful women would each be "escorted" by a major religious figure, and a member of the royal family.
My Grandparents are all amazing individuals. My father's father was inducted into the aviation hall of fame. He is an airplane mechanic from way back when. My father's mother was a devout Catholic (with ten kids to prove it!) with very little formal education, but extensive knowledge of plants (including their latin names). My Mother's father was a tank mechanic in WWII and was on the beaches of Normandy. He is an amazing small engine mechanic and known for miles around as "Earl the Pearl." My mother's mother is one of the most selfless individuals I have ever encountered. She spent her life taking care of other people. She cooked the best pot roast on the planet and kept an immaculate home. She made sure that my sisters and I were always taken care of and had a safe place to go. She took us in when my parent's weren't capable of doing their job. I could go on and on . I can't even put into words the amount of love that I have for her. I know that she lives on within me. I hope that I can pass on my children the same feeling of security that she gave to me.
Goodnight, Grandma.

Peanuts
Mood:  incredulous
Now Playing: Snoopy's Theme Song
Topic: The (UN?) Usual
I forgot about this-speaking of Cosmic Charley-Today's Peanut's comic strip in our paper has Snoopy's Uncle-the one that lives in the desert, looking up at the stars-he says that he has given them all names, like they are friends-and he says "HI, Michelle!" More proof tht I am indeed A SUPERSTAR!!!
AND-as I am writing this, The Price is Right Million Dollar Spectacular-(the same one that a group of people from the Salsa Hut got tickets to but didn't get in)-is on in the other room. The person who just got called down was CHARLES BROWN!!! The magic is happening so fast I can't even write fast enough. Notice that these are all Charleys!!! Maybe we haven't spoken-but I hear him LOUD AND CLEAR!!! (if you missed the entry before this...go back and read it now!)

Now Playing: Cosmic Charley-the Greatful Dead
Topic: How do you do?
Today is the birthday of a dear old friend that I have, unfortunately, lost contact with. Cosmic Charley is another one of the people that I have known since dirt. Even though we haven't talked in a couple of years, I still "hear from" him regularly. I have a million Cosmic stories.
One of my favorite is when I went to his house in Tennessee on my way to Charlotte, NC for a Dead show. I got there pretty late, after a 12 hour drive and was sitting there catching up. His father walked in and Cosmic introduced me and I said "Hi, how are you?" He said (Tennessee accent and all) "Sounds like a yankee!" and left the room! I had heard about that kind of attitude but WOW!!! Apparently the Mason-Dixon Line runs right through their living room!!! Truly funny coming from the father of a long haired, tye-dyed, Jerry lover!!!
Happy Birthday Ancient One!!! See you in the fabric of time.

Potatoes Not Prozac
Mood:  spacey
Now Playing: The Policy of Truth-Depeche Mode
Topic: tripper
My sister has been after me to check out this book called Potatoes Not Prozac for quite a while. It's a book about changing your diet to help you overcome sugar addiction and balancing your chemistry to make you more functional. Many of us don't even acknowledge the fact that we are tired and mildly depressed due to the way we eat. I know that there is always room for improvement in my diet, and I am always looking for ways to maximize my energy levels without using coffee, sugar or other stimulants (speed kills, man!!)
So I went to their website, www.radiantrecovery.com and I took the quiz, etc. On the whole I am pretty balanced, but I was intrigued by the idea that eating a potato (with the skin on) before bed will enhance dreams due to the rise in seratonin that it creates! Anything that makes my dreams more vivid is a big GO in my book. I can tell you that in my trial run last night I DO remember things being pretty detailed, but I also slept late and had what my old roomate used to refer to as "Saturday Morning Cartoons." I just ate my potato and am going to bed now. I will let you know how it goes! (as if my waking life wasn't strange enough!) Goodnight!

More TOM-Foolery!!!
Mood:  cheeky
Now Playing: Major Tom-David Bowie
Topic: That Reminds Me!
OK-I wrote the title of this BLOG, and stopped to turn on XRT radio Chicago before I went on. I swear to you that the song Major Tom was on!! (look at their playlist for April 8-2:30am cdt!!) I couldn't even make this stuff up! (except that I am fully aware that I create my own reality so... did I make it happen, or am I just in tune with WHAT'S HAPPENING?)
Anyway, the subject of tonite's entry is just plain silly. Yesterday's Tommy Tuesday Tease reminded me of a friend of mine from college. We both worked for a popular 24 hour restaurant to put ourselves through school. (okay-I have to say it-it was back in the town of Normal-so we worked for the only Normal Denny's in the world-hahahaha!!!)
She was a theatre major, and she was Juliet in the college's production of -well-(you can put that together.) In the play, the man who played her father, was the man who would eventually become her husband. His name-Thomas Thomas. Now if you've ever seen the Bob Newhart show (the more recent one-not the early 70's one) you will definately remember "Larry, his brother Darryl, and his other brother Darryl." How this ties in? Thomas Thomas had a brother Bob Thomas, and his OTHER brother, Bob Thomas!!!
Why?! You might ask his parents, would you do this to your kids? Well, it happened that Thomas, and one of his brother Bob's mom married the other Bob's dad, whose last name was Thomas. The dad then adopted Thomas and the other Bob and made them Thomas's as well!!! WOW!
(As if it wasn't silly enough-one of the late nite cook's at our Normal store was ALSO named Bob Thomas-No relation!)

Tommy Can You Hear Me?
Mood:  amorous
Now Playing: Won't Get Fooled Again-the WHO
Topic: Foolish heart
Well-The April Fool's Magic is really in full force this year!!! I love it!
I have a dear friend, and fellow Michelle who lives in Chicago. We are both redheads and both have KICKASS birthdays. Hers is April Fool's Day!! We worked at TGI Friday's together, and I can't believe that I have known her for almost ten years already!
This year for her birthday she went to see Ratdog (Bob Weir from the Grateful Dead's band) At the show she met a boy named Tommy (I flash to the WHO) Today she found out his last name is Tuesday. I love it. I want to make poetry from it.
A fellow Michelle,
An April Fool's Show,
She meets Tuesday on Friday,
What do you know?
Now we've all played the game,
We've won and we've lost,
You just never know,
What will be the cost.
I think it's worth
The risk that we take,
To be able to love,
Just for love's sake!!!

I can't say that she will fall head over heels for this guy, (like I probably would) She's far more practical than I am about these things. I have a moon in Sagittarius, which they say makes me love who I love until I love what comes next. I can say that my feeling about this is, have as much fun as you can, while you can!
THAT GOES FOR ALL OF YOU!!!

It's Always Somethin!
Mood:  cool
Now Playing: Come as You Are-Nirvana
Topic: R & D
It's the end of another action packed day. I spent the bulk of my time at the Picante Palace, where I could barely remember my name. Apparently the same brain cell that I use to remember whether you ordered chicken or steak was doing double duty thinking about painting and pasting mandala plaques when I got home. Business was steady and I got finished late. My favorite part of the day was somewhere around 2pm. I had not been able to stop long enough to take any sort of break because I had constant business. I had one table sit all the way in the back of my cantina at the exact same time that I got two new tables up front. Then a couple sat at my bar and two orders of food came up at the same time. I took out the food (one to the back-one to the front) and the one in the front took a bite and it was "too spicy" (HELLO-It's Mexican Food!! already numbed for Americans!) I took it back-checked my other table and they ordered the most labor intensive drink on the menu-the (dreaded) MOJITO!!! It took a few moments to take care of all of the requests made of me and when I dropped off the Mojitos I apologized for the wait. The guys were really nice, and were seated where they could not see that I was working the entire 25 table section, plus the bar, expediting my own food, busing my own tables, and making drinks for the servers in the restaurant. That is why I didn't POP HIM ONE when I said "these were a little time consuming to create!" and he replied "GOOD THING YOU'RE NOT BUSY!!!" AAAAAAARGHHHHHHHH!!!
When I got home I put a lot of effort into researching techniques for decorating the plaques I got to put the zodiac mandalas on for Sat. Mkt. Let's just say-it was way more labor intensive than making a Mojito~but also far more rewarding when I came up with a do~able solution!! Now I just have to do it about 23 more times and I will have enough to unveil them in my booth this Saturday! (There is a Joe Jackson song that just came on XRT-the one that goes "you can't get what you want-till you know what you want..." -PRETTY MUCH!!!) That's gonna be my focus for this week!!! I may never get the paint out from under my nails! (OMG!)

More Magic Moments
Mood:  crushed out
Now Playing: In the Name of Love-U2
Topic: Jerry Me
April 4 is a very special day to me for several reasons. It happens to be the anniversary of the day that Martin Luther King Jr. was assasinated in Memphis, TN. That is not the reason that this day stands out in my mind.
Once upon a tour, 10 years ago today I was in Birmingham, Alabama (Alabama GET AWAY!!!) I didn't have a ticket to the show, but I was looking for one. With my forefinger poised in the air, I began the chant "Who's got my extra! Cash for your extra!" People walked by, headed to the show, tickets in hand, but no extras for me. Then a guy walked up and said "I don't have an extra ticket, sister, but you can have this picture I took of Jerry at Graceland yesterday!" WOW!!! This was at least as sweet as any ticket. I never did get into that show, but I still look upon this as a miracle.
The thing that really stands out to me is that in hindsight this was foreshadowing!!! Jerry is standing at Elvis's Gravesite in Memphis, and I got the photo on the anniversary of MLK's death. Four months later he too had passed. The signs are usually there-we don't always know how to interpret them. That in itself can be a blessing!
On this date a couple of years after this incident is when I came to know another of my earth angels-a man whose last name is Hart. He was born on Friday the Thirteenth (of November-a Scorpio like Mr. Wright) While I learned a lot about unconditional love for another (and unrequieted love as well) from Mr. Wright, I learned a lot about unconditional love for MY SELF from Mr. Hart. (He definately knew a thing or two about self love, but that is a whole other entry!)
I consider these two men earthly guides. I learn just as much from them when they are "not around" as I did when they were. There are certain people you meet that you know that you have known since DIRT. These two I have known since Light.
(to view amazing Jerry photo-see my photo album)
